Professor Russell Nicholson from Simon Fraser University visited General Study Program of Shandong University in June 10, 2011. Professor Russell Nicholson is a renowned and senior expert in Biology in SFU who has rich experience and profound knowledge in Biology education and achieves excellent achievement in academic research.
Upon this visit, Professor Russell Nicholson made a presentation entitled ‘Introduction to Biology’ to the students of General Study Program. Professor Russell Nicholson not only introduced his research and teaching field but also showed majors setting and curriculum of the faculty in detail, and made a face-to-face conversation with students in studying courses and majors in Biology. Professor Nicholson replied to students’ confusion in Biology study and provided targeted advice for students who aspire to get into this field which benefits students much.
Since its foundation, the General Study Program always pays great attention to get connected to and communicate with Canadian universities. It campaigns for outward communicate activities in multiple ways each year. Through these activities, on one hand, General Study Program absorbs overseas essence in education research and management so as to enhance itself and make deep interactive communication with Canadian universities in majors and academic research; on the another hand, it provides students at home a face-to-face communication opportunity with Canadian universities in order to acquaint students with these universities and make them aware of choices of majors when they study abroad. These activities win great attention and high praises of both students and their parents as well as greatly enhance education management and professional research level of General Study Program and promote General Study Program onto a new stage.
