Dean of Arts, Dr. Lesley Cormack and Director of International Relations and Recruitment, Dr. Cen Huang visited the General Study Program at Southwest Jiaotong University on March 21, 2011.
The plaque awarding ceremony is held at 10:00am at Yuqiu meeting room, Jinghu Hotel, Southwest Jiaotong University. Dr. Huang and Dr. Cormack presented an engraved plaque to GSP SWJTU, which says, ‘Valued Source of Students for University of Alberta’, as a symbol of appreciation and collaboration to CNEEC and the General Study Program. Dr. Kaiyin Yan, Director of GSP and Director of Teaching Administration of SWJTU, and Dr. Ping He, Vice Director of International Office of SWJTU, received the plaque from Dr. Cormack.
After the ceremony, Dr. Cormack and Dr. Huang had a conversation with Dr. Yan, and Dr. He, as to continue working together and developing further student and research relationships. At 11:30, Dr. Cormack delivered a lecture about ‘Galileo and the Catholic Church’ to the GSP students. At 2:00 p.m., Dr. Huang and Dr. Cormack met with students who intend to go to study at University of Alberta this fall at Room 4709, Yifu Building. They answered questions from those students and encouraged them to prepare well for study in University of Alberta.
