On Oct. 18, 2011, Andrew Gibb, Recruitment Coordinator (Asia), from University of Alberta, visited Chengdu Office of Canadian National Education Exchange Centre (CNEEC) in Southwest Jiaotong University and met with staff in Chengdu Office. Andrew recommended a very popular faculty in the University of Alberta (U of A): Faculty of Agriculture, Life and Environment Science (ALES) which is an emerging faculty. And, then, Andrew described the climate, outdoor activities, and Bridging Program in Alberta. At 11:30 A.M., Andrew gave students of 2010 grade from General Study Program (GSP) in Southwest Jiaotong University a vivid presentation including information of general situation of Canada and Alberta which attracts students from GSP very much. In the presentation, Andrew told students that Canada enjoys a high standard of living; Alberta is an energy province which is one of world’s top energy producers; Alberta is rich so there is no provincial sales tax
and it is the capital city of Edmonton, Canada’s festival city, which can provide students diverse living environment and more experience. At last, Andrew expressed his welcome to students’ going to be one of members of U of A and answered questions from students from GSP.
